This 3 phase cycle is applied continuously to your language learning:

P1: Production

Instructors use a range of techniques to draw and facilitate production from learners.  Linguistic raw data, taken from actual speech, is carefully recorded in their Student Learning File.

P2: Insight

The collected information is reviewed and assessed by our Academic Team - Instructors, Academic Liaison & Academic Coordinator - in order to assure that each learner is progressing at an optimal pace.

P3: Elevation

Each student's Learning Plan is then adjusted as needed, taking the Academic Team's analysis into account. Learners are made aware of their biggest challenges and advised on how to take their speaking skills up to the next level.

Beginner (Traveller)

Keywords: Simple questions, familiar and close environment

1 (low)

Can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type. Can introduce him/herself and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where he/she lives, people he/she knows and things he/she has.

2 (average)
Can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.

3 (high) 
Can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment).

Pre-intermediate (Resident)

Keywords : Descriptions, basic conversations.

4 (low)

Can communicate in simple and routine phrases requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters. Can describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.

Can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. Can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken.

Intermediate (Student/worker)

Keywords :  Beginning of autonomy, able to cope with, can express opinions. Average listening and able to converse, to give advice and to argue.

7 (low)

Can describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes & ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

8 (average)

Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation. Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party.

9 (high)

Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

Advanced (Professional)

Keywords :  Can express him or herself spontaneously with a good structure. Can understand without effort and master the language.

10 (low)

Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognize implicit meaning. Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions.

11 (average)

Can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Can produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this program offered at all levels?

Yes—our corporate classes are offered at all levels, from beginner to advanced! We do, of course, group together employees who are at similar levels to give them the best learning experience. To determine your employees’ learning levels, we’ll send them a brief questionnaire and ask them to record themselves speaking in French or English. Upon completion of this assessment, we’ll get in touch to let you know which level we’ve placed them at. See the bottom of our Academics page for a breakdown of the language levels E-QIP uses.

How long will it take for my employees to become fluent?

Fluency depends on many elements, including how many hours students spend in class, how much time they spend using their target language outside of class and—perhaps most importantly—how motivated they are to learn. Even the concept of “fluency” is hard to define; for some, fluency simply means getting through basic everyday situations with ease, while for others, it means speaking clearly and confidently about highly specialized subjects. With that said, we’ve laid out the average number of lessons required for absolute beginners to reach each language level. For those taking group lessons, the number of 45-minute lesson blocks required to reach the highest level (12—in other words, the level of a native speaker) is 450.

How many private lessons should we schedule per week?

That’s entirely up to you, and depends on your employees’ availability and goals! Think of language learning like training at the gym. One lesson per week is ideal for maintenance, while two to three will allow you to see faster improvements.

Is this course eligible for Quebec’s 1% law?

Yes! We’ll walk you through the reimbursement process upon registration.
