Montreal Museum Day 2017

Written by E-QIP123 on May 25, 2017

Every year, towards the end of May, people start to get really excited in Montreal. Besides the gorgeous weather and the endless terraces that line the busy streets, it also means that the Montreal Museum Day is just around the corner.

What is Museum Day, you ask? Well, it's a unique opportunity to visit some of Montreal's most cherished museums, absolutely free of charge. Yes, free. As in, zero dollars. That sounds like a good deal, doesn't it?

On top of free entrance to over 30 museums, there will also be free shuttle buses taking you from museum to museum, courtesy of the STM. If you want more information about which museums will open their doors for free on May 28, do check out the Montreal Museum's official website here.

At E-QIP Montreal, we love to explore museums. Usually, students have the chance to visit a Montreal about once per month. It's a great way to practice English or French as most guided visits are fully bilingual.

Check out the following pictures of E-QIP students exploring some of Montreal's coolest museums. The museums featured in this photo gallery will be free this coming Sunday so you can enjoy them with your friends and family.

Can you guess where we are? Last May, E-QIP students visited Maison Saint-Gabriel, a historic site and museum located near Charlevoix Metro (green line). We had a fantastic time! Check out their website here.

The museum pictured above is none other than Redpath Museum, located on McGill University's beautiful downtown campus. This museum specializes in natural history. Don't be frightened by the giant polar bear that greets you at the entrance! More info here.

The next museum is the Montreal Artisan Museum which showcases handmade items made in the last couple hundred years. What's really stunning about this museum is that it is housed in a beautiful church. Not to be missed. Check out their website here.

When E-QIP students visited earlier this year, we learned about how the environment affects the architectural design of cities and towns. Check out their website here!

Last but not least, presenting The Guild Museum, also located downtown near Guy-Concordia Metro (green line). This museum features Inuit Art and also sells some of its pieces. E-QIP students visited this museum this past January (can you tell by all the snow). Here's their website.

Hope these pictures give you some inspiration as to which museums you wish to visit in a few days. Let us know in the comments below which Montreal Museum you enjoy exploring!

Happy Montreal Museum Day 2017, everyone!
