Festive Fridays: A Unique E-QIP Experience

On the first Friday of the month, E-QIP Montreal hosts an event unbelievably rich in language and culture. This event is known around the school and local community as Festive Fridays. E-QIP Montreal is primarily a language school, but once a month, we invite the entire Montreal community to join our party!

To give you an idea of our Festive Friday tradition, here's a breakdown of what we do at these events.

Festive Friday: Crepes Edition

This party is all about celebrating French culture. We prepare sweet and savoury crepes from scratch. In case you didn't know, crepes originated in northwestern France. What's great about this event is that you can learn the proper technique to make the best-looking crepe thanks to our French volunteers! Here are some highlights from our past events.

Next up is Festive Friday: Takoyaki Edition

If you have never tried Japanese Takoyaki before, run, don't walk to our next event! Takoyaki is a ball-shaped snack that is made of wheat and typically filled with a small piece of boiled octopus and garnished with pickled ginger, seaweed, and green onion. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside! We always have Japanese volunteers on hand to show us how to prepare this famous snack food. It is tricky to cook and we have to use a special pan. Preparing this food is just as fun as eating it! And you can also brush up on your Japanese language skills.

Let's make some more! Round Two

Finally, our last event in the series is Festive Friday: Taco Edition

At this event, we honour Mexico by preparing one of the most famous foods from that country: TACOS. If you have never heard of tacos, then surely you must join us next time around. Basically, it's a warm corn tortilla to which one can add different types of fillings such as ground beef, steak, pork, etc. There are so many different taco types; you just gotta try them all. At E-QIP's Taco Party, there's always a Mexican guest present to show us how to spice the meat just right. And then there's the homemade guacamole! Pure heaven.
